Dr. Chip Halverson, ND

Dr. Chip Halverson is a licensed naturopathic physician in the states of Oregon, Washington and Montana. Dr. Halverson regularly lectures locally and nationally on a variety of health topics and their connection to optimal wellness.

Dr. Halverson grew up in Montana and later attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota where he graduated in 1991 with honors, including earning NCAA Academic and Athletic All-American recognition.  After graduation he began a successful teaching career in Montana and Washington.

Once teaching, he became heavily involved researching the issues surrounding children who had both learning and behavior difficulties.  The latter led him to complete a master’s degree focused on ADD/ADHD.  He also completed school administration requirements, focusing on Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) and its relationship to occupational health and academic achievement.  Additionally, he has assisted the EPA, National Education Association and many other local, regional and national organizations as they navigate issues surrounding IEQ and its impact on learning and teaching.

From a young age he had an interest in natural therapies and was strongly influenced by his grandfather’s cancer diagnosis and integration of alternative and conventional medicine in the early 1980’s.  It was not until the mid-90’s when he experienced his own health crisis that he discovered naturopathic medicine.  Shortly thereafter, he returned to school, completed a 3-year pre-med program, as well as an additional 5-years of medical school. Dr. Halverson graduated with a doctorate in naturopathic medicine, including honors in research from National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon.

During medical school he focused on researching physiological detoxification pathways at Helfgott Research Institute and served as student body president.  Dr. Halverson’s interest in environmental health comes from over two decades as a volunteer, mentor, speaker, teacher and administrator. Now as a naturopathic physician, his specialized family practice focuses on both acute and chronic health and achieving optimal wellness at the cellular level.

Dr. Halverson is both a researcher and clinician with experience in treating patients with some of the most difficult health conditions.  He is a primary care physician with a special interest in managing patients with chronic illnesses, including autoimmune disease, endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, neurological conditions, hormonal imbalances, allergies, integrative cancer support and environmental illnesses.  Additionally, Dr. Halverson’s education and background lends itself to working with school employees, adults and children with autism and ADD/ADHD, optimizing academic performance in both high achievers and struggling students, amateur and professional athletes, children, teenagers and adults.  His therapies focus on optimal lifestyle choices for each specific condition and include recommendations on diet, sleep, exercise, supplementation, herbal medicines, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, physical medicine, including using cold laser, heart rate variability studies, percussion, mobilization, neuromuscular massage and neurolymphatic balancing , and a European form of medicine called Bio-Therapeutic Drainage.

Health is a reflection of physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and energetic balance.  Dr. Halverson is committed to helping his patients achieve homeostasis and optimal wellness.  Dr. Halverson’s interests include spending time with his wife, Dayle and their three children, exploring the Pacific Northwest, teaching, skiing, hiking, camping, biking and traveling.
